Educational Television

So, along with many other outstanding blessings, marriage has brought me a little culture in the tube watching. Yes- I have a new favorite show, and it has nothing to do with make-overs, Dwigt (episode reference) or southern cooking. (my previous favs were in no particular order,"What Not to Wear" - "The Office" - "Paula's Party") Although- it does share a common thread with the fore mentioned hits- it is full of useless knowledge that I will never- NEVER NEVER- use again.
It's, "SURVIVOR MAN" if you haven't seen it- watch it. It's about a chap who gets dropped off in the middle of no place and has to survive for a week. Now, please don't confuse with "Man vs. Wild" while similar, they are also vastly different. The former is a person who is all on his own, no camera crew, no cell phone, nothing. The latter- has a camera crew with him- not as rugged. He has to make his own shelter's, trap his own food and keep himself entertained so he doesn't lose his mind- all in the wilderness. Irony- if you know any of my sisters, or my dad, (my mom could rough it better than he could, sorry dad) you know that Byram's don't camp. 1- reason- we are allergic to anything that grows (thank you Kara for pointing that out) 2- none of us can relieve ourselves with out proper lights, air pressure and of course throne. 3- We (specifically me) are afraid of all animals- specifically birds.
So- in reference to my previously stated comment- this show adds to my realm of useless information. I now know what bugs I could if eat and still live, but since I'm afraid of my shadow- I won't go anywhere alone- thus- I will never be stranded.

Remember the time that we went camping and we had to go to my home so you could go to the bathroom. Craziness. Yes, please lets go to lunch tomorrow! I am free anytime so call or text or whatever me tomorrow for time. Bring single girl along.

correction, The RIchard and lindsay Byram family do camp. also let me just tell you that Les Shroud of survivor-man is sickeningly bald. and Wears a stupid bandana or hat all the time Bear Gryls could kick his "survivor" butt anyday. he totally lives randomly off plants secretly praying that they wont give him diahrea until he dies, and then once he makes it home he narrorates his footage all the while looking up the information and pretending he knew it before hand. We are team Man VS. wild. and we unlike you, actually camp. PS rich is still afraid of anything that grows. I have to pry him out of the camper each and every time.

We really are NOT campers. Unless you count the cabin at Island Park, which I totally do. I have decided I hate it because of all the dirt. I can't stand going to bed feeling "gritty" I have seen Survivor Man, what a wack job!

First Off- Man vs. Wild- completely staged, while still entertaining, he isn't exactly surviving on his own for an entire week. For example- Man vs Wild- taks a camera crew with him- and whil he may eat crap, he probably has a case full of Cliff bars with his crew. Survivorman- nothing, no cliff bars, no company and yes no access to the real world. Man vs. Wild may put on more of a show, but Survivorman actually survives on his own.

it's all a personal preference i guess...what he can do, if needed i guess is what i like about bear- bear doesn't shoot amateur video while "surviving" or whatever it is you would call it so i like the professional film crew take better-- and i still enjoy learning from him better than the other guy...even if he is living it up at hotels in the mean time
